Course Overview

Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction that requires immediate recognition and treatment. This course equips learners with the essential skills and confidence to respond effectively to an anaphylactic emergency using auto-injectors and resuscitation techniques.

Ideal for qualified First Aiders, Emergency First Aiders, healthcare professionals, and those working in high-risk environments such as schools, nurseries, catering, or healthcare settings.

Qualification Details

  • Awarding Body: First Aid Awards (FAA)
  • RQF Level 3
  • Qualification Title:
    • FAA Level 3 Award in Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis (RQF)
  • Unit Title: Recognition and Management of Anaphylaxis

Course Duration

  • 6 contact hours (classroom-based)
  • May include pre-course or post-course reading

Course Content

Learners will gain knowledge and practical skills in:

  • Recognising signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis
  • Understanding allergic vs anaphylactic reactions
  • Common triggers (e.g. food, insect stings, medication)
  • ABCDE emergency assessment
  • Managing the airway, breathing & circulation
  • Safe use of adrenaline auto-injectors (e.g. EpiPen, Jext)
  • Resuscitation (adult and child)
  • Recovery position and casualty handover
  • Safe sharps disposal and infection control
