For Parents, Carers, and Anyone Working with Children. Note: If you are a childminder or teacher, this course will not fulfil the EYFS requirement. You need the 2-day course.
Course Overview
This one-day course is perfect for anyone who wants to learn basic first aid skills for children and infants. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, babysitter, or early years staff member, this course equips you with the knowledge and confidence to respond in emergency situations involving babies and young children.
What You’ll Learn
This course covers essential topics including:
- The responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider
- How to assess a situation and conduct a primary survey
- CPR and use of an AED for infants and children
- Recovery position
- Choking and seizures
- Minor injuries
- Wounds, bleeding and shock

- 1 day (6 classroom hours)
- Some pre-course reading may be required

Course Details
- Minimum age: 16
- Group size: Up to 12 learners per course
- Delivered in Penzance and surrounding areas, or on-site for businesses and groups
Certification & Assessment
- Practical assessments and oral questions
- Successful learners receive a Level 3 (RQF)
- Valid for 3 years
- Annual refreshers are strongly recommended

Physical Requirements
